Authority of Tender Mercies

"Son,
cheer up!
Your sins are forgiven you." MATT. 9:2

"Why do you think evil in your hearts?
For which is easier,
to say,
'Your sins are forgiven;'
or to say,
'Get up, and walk?'
But that you may know that
the Son of Man has
authority
on earth to forgive sins. . . .
"Get up,
and take up your mat,
and go
up to your house." MATT. 9:4-6

"Follow me." MATT. 9:9

"Those who are healthy have no need for a physician,
but those who are sick do.
But you go and learn what this means:
'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,'
for I came not to call the righteous,
but sinners to repentance." MATT. 9:12-13

Jesus spoke with an authority that had the power to heal. He spoke and the worlds were formed. And, he formed you! When you live in denial of sin and sickness, this blocks his healing. Do you see your own need? Do you see how much you need Jesus' saving power in your life? Are you following Him? Let his tender mercies restore you.

Heavenly Father, there is someone who desperately needs your compassion working through me. Take all my shortsighted judgments and replace them with your tender mercies, understanding, loving mercy.

"Lord, open my lips. My mouth shall declare your praise. For you don't delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it. You have no pleasure in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise." ~ "He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?" ~ "It happened, when Jesus had finished saying these things, that the multitudes were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them with authority, and not like the scribes." ~ "For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment."
